Racing fans in North Texas experienced the Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C. in a whole new way with a special screening at COSM Dallas.
Located in The Colony, COSM features an 87-foot, 12K LED dome that puts live sports in an immersive "Shared Reality" experience that gave fans a big-screen, in-the-room feel for one of the biggest weekends on the NTT INDYCAR SERIES schedule.
The screening was made possible through a multi-year collaboration between COSM and FOX Sports, announced in August 2025, that brings FOX's biggest live events to COSM venues. With FOX now holding the NTT INDYCAR SERIES media rights, that same pipeline brought the Freedom 250 to DFW-area fans, giving them a front-row seat to the action from nearly 1,300 miles away.
The Freedom 250 marked the first NTT INDYCAR SERIES race on the National Mall and ran through the streets of Washington, D.C., as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations. Cars raced past the United States Capitol Building and Washington Monument on a new 1.7-mile, seven-turn circuit.
It was a fitting stage for a result that's becoming a familiar sight: Kyle Kirkwood in victory lane.
Kirkwood, the reigning Java House Grand Prix of Arlington winner, added another statement victory to his 2026 season. The 27-year-old driver led 128 of 147 laps in the No. 27 Sam’s Club Honda to defeat Arrow McLaren’s Christian Lundgaard by nearly three seconds. Andretti Global teammate Will Power finished third in the No. 26 TWG AI Honda.
The victory added another chapter to Kirkwood’s growing reputation on unfamiliar street circuits.
Street courses offer little margin for error, with tight corners, unforgiving walls and heavy braking zones. Six of Kirkwood’s seven career wins occurred on such, including monumental first-year events this season in Arlington and Washington, D.C.
“This place is very quick,” said Kirkwood. The corners, the grip we had when we first got here, there's not been a lot of evolution. It's physical. Steering is heavy. Huge brake zones. Brake temps are very high. It's a tough place.”
From the green flag, Kirkwood and Andretti Global displayed the combination of strategy, clean racing and the composure to close it out when it mattered. It's the kind of performance that turns a single win into a pattern and a pattern into a reputation.
With the Freedom 250 now reaching fans both on the National Mall and on the big screen at COSM Dallas, the résumé of Arlington’s reigning winner keeps growing. The attention turns to what's next for the Grand Prix of Arlington and the NTT INDYCAR SERIES that keeps proving it belongs in the same conversation as the biggest live events.
